Spek is a multi-disciplinary studio specializing in graphic design and printmaking. Spek works with clients to create and execute design solutions in the disciplines of branding, marketing, package design, & environmental graphic design. Spek’s clients include small businesses, corporations, non-profits, and private individuals.
Alongside its graphic design services, Spek also produces original artworks through a fine arts practice rooted in printmaking, but also including painting & sculpture. Spek’s original works are conceptualized and designed via graphic design methods, which are then translated and executed through fine art disciplines. These artworks can be viewed and purchased through Spek’s online shop.
Mel Parada – Founder & Creative Director
Graphic Designer, typographer, and printmaker with 10+ years experience in the print & marketing industry. His passion for typography and all things print, coupled with an acute sense of curiosity helps guide his focus in breaking the traditional bounds of graphic design and its application. His work is considered both modern & minimal, deconstructive & speculative.
He currently serves as an assistant professor of graphic design at the Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA).
He earned a BS in Finance (’02) and an MFA in Graphic Design (’18) from George Mason University.
